Backyard camp out and Cinco de Mayo

Can we all just agree that camping with lots of little kids is a big huge messy chore?
McKay had the best idea this past weekend. A camp out in our very own back yard.
The kids were so excited when I picked then up from school to get the camping stuff out.

We got a five dollar pizza, laid out our sleeping bags, and watched a movie. It was really fun!

You wanna know the best part??
I slept IN MY OWN BED!! (So did Reese, Carter, and eventually Sydney.)
:-)

My kind of camp
out!!

McKay brought home a piñata from work on Friday so we let the kids have at it on Saturday for a little Cincl de Mayo celebration.
We started off with a blindfold but it was one TOUGH piñata!!

Sydney would send the thing swinging when she hit it.
After it attacked her a few times she started running away from it.
So funny!!

Our outside renovations are complete and we are in our back yard constantly. It's wonderful.
I'll compile our before and after pictures and do a post soon!

Lady bug hunt

As we were searching for lady bugs Sydney said "I can't believe we have nature in our very own back yard!!"

Catch Up

Soooooo I'm still having issues with my picture from March and most of April.
I tend to be a bit fanatical when it comes to certain things.... like blogging out of order ... But I figure it's better to keep up with what's going on now rather than continuing to fall behind.

Someday I'll blog about our anniversary cruise, the Clark County Fair, and the million other things we did over the past several weeks, but for now I'll share some fun pics from the last week or so. :-)

Carter is just starting to show interest in coloring (more than on the walls). He'll make tons of little circles with scribbles in the middle and he can tell me what every single one is. Super cute.

Reese is able to get wherever he wants to go. He's not quite crawling, but he's close. I'm in trouble.

He's one of he happiest (and cutest) little dudes I know.

Carter parked his little "car" in this box from Costco and said "Look Mom!!! I parked in the garage!!".

Last weekend we got a babysitter once Carter and Reese were in bed and right before the big kids went to bed we surprised them and took them to a late showing of "Mirror Mirror". We even went in our jammies. :-)

The light bulb has turned on and Jackson is becoming an amazing reader. He read me this book the other day before school and surprised himself by reading the words dangerous and avalanche.

This awesome lady backed into me at a stop sign while I was driving the kids to school the other day. She punched a nice hole in my bumper with her trailer hitch. Being the crazy attorney's wife that I am, I jumped out and started taking picture of the crime scene. I'm sure to anyone who drove by it looked like I rear ended her, but I wasn't about to get pinned with that.
After giving my recorded statement her insurance took 100% liability and I'll even get a sweet minivan rental while my car is in the shop.
While reporting the claim to the insurance company I had to list all the passengers including their DOB, address, position in the vehicle, etc. I could practically hear the young lady's eyes popping out of her head as I listed my 4 kids along with my nephew.... And then she had to verify that she had my birthday correct and that I am in fact only 27 years old. Haha.

So there you have it. An eventful week with the Whitneys.

Adieu from Monsieur Jackson.

The Long Lost Whitney's

We are alive and well.

About a month ago I finally joined the ranks and got myself an iPhone. You know that invention that is supposed to make your life so much easier? Well guess what? I love it and it does make my life much easier.
In fact I even retired my old school day planner.
Gasp! I know!

So after filling my new awesome phone with hundreds of pictures I finally decided to transfer them onto my computer so that I could blog.
LONG story (and lots of frustration) later I got the idea to download an app so that I can blog from my phone. So watch out blogging world.
I'm back!

It will take me a while to organize my pictures and put together posts but in the meantime here's a couple cute pictures of Reese. :-)

February. Come and Gone.

The months FLY by.  It blows me away.
This month we celebrated our 6th month with this little sweetie!

Ooooh, he's so sweet!

We also went and check out the farmers market at Tivoli Village near our old house.
We hit up a balloon artist.

That same morning McKay took us to a little cafe he discovered.
We decided that taking our (not so) little family out to breakfast is SO much better than dinner.
Everyone is fresh and rested and we were all actually able to enjoy our food with no melt downs.
They had about 12 different flavors of bagels along with 10 or so flavored cream cheeses.
Very delicious!

We were invited to a birthday party for the little girl of one of the attorneys that McKay works with.
Jumpy house.
Face painting.
Balloon artist (twice in a month!!).
Great food.
Fun times.

We found this beauty in the kid church bag on Sunday.  McKay and I both busted up laughing when we saw it.
A little creepy? Ya.
Nice one Sydney.  Haha.

You can only imagine Sydney's excitement when we ran into this guy at the mall!

Sunday afternoon shadow puppets.

On Presidents Day me and the kids met up with a couple of my sisters and some friends to ride horses.
They belong to a couple in our ward.
We stayed in the arena since there were so many of us.  It was fun, but I think next time we'll leave the kids home and go for a real ride!

Sadly, Sydney took a spill and ended up with bruised back and mouth full of dirt.
I helped her get back on to finish her turn and I'm hoping she's not scarred for life...like her Dad. ;-)
Happy March!

Yowza!

Sydney's 2 bottom teeth have been loose for a few weeks.
Yesterday I asked her to show me how loose they were and one of them was ready to come out.
She was nervous, but let Dad work on it.

*Sydney has a cold...so don't mind the snot...haha.*

After all was said and done she was happy to have the tooth out and very anxious to see what the Tooth Fairy would bring.

Here's the note she wrote to the Tooth Fairy.

Sydney came into my room at 1:30am to let me know that her tooth was gone and she got
FIVE DOLLARS
for her first tooth.

Lucky girl!!
