Birthday Girl

Sydney chose Pop Tarts for her birthday breakfast. She and Jackson thought it was pretty cool to have "cookies" for breakfast.

Here is Sydney in her new robe from Grandma Gifford. It has her name embroidered on it and it's SO soft.

Flower bows from Grandma Gifford.

That evening we took the kids to a pizza place/arcade in Pikeville, KY. They loved it.

This was a motion ride game. Jackson was way into it.

Today was Sydney's preschool birthday party. She chose string cheese, crackers with cheese dip, and cheese puffs (think she likes cheese??) to take for her class lunch. We threw in some raisins and apple juice to top it off.

Then came the presents. She got tons of stuff!

The birthday festivities are officially over and Sydney had a great 4th birthday!

Today our little Sydney Rae turns 4! So much has happened since her birth and it's been fun to look back and see all the blessings our family has shared since she joined our little family. We love you Sydney, and Happy Birthday!!

Just a few hours old.

After an emotional emergency c-section, it was amazing to have her in my arms.

An amazing thing happened a couple days ago. I had taken the kids to their room to put them down for nap and when I came back out Sherri was gone. I figured she snuck into her room to take a nap and as I went to sit on the couch I caught a glimpse of her out the front window. She was outside..not only in the snow, but touching the snow. Now, for those of you who don't know Sherri, she is the coldest person I know. By cold I mean she is NEVER warm. Even in the summer she wears long sleeves. She always has on slippers and is most often found with a blanket wrapped around herself. So, it was a pretty amazing sight to see her outside for more than just the few seconds it takes to run to the car. Here she is with her very first Virginia snow man. So cute!

McKay decided to join us to build a bigger snow man. Sadly, while carrying the first ball to it's resting place he slipped on the sloped grass and all was lost. He said his hands were too cold to do it again. I wonder why?!?

McKay, McKay, McKay.

The year was 2004. McKay was at home alone for a few hours in the evening, we didn't have any kids yet, and I was away at a church meeting. McKay was bored and found a play dough set in our closet. (Someone gave us the play dough for our wedding. Apparently they knew McKay could be easily entertained.) Also, he had just got a new Palm Zire for Christmas. So, what do you get when you put a bored McKay, play doh with toys, and a brand new piece of technology together for a couple hours? Well, see for yourself!

So now you've all seen into the crazy head of my dear husband. Hope you enjoyed.

Just a post

McKay gave Jackson a hair cut today. Here he is pre-cut. I think he looks like one of the lost boys on Hook.

And here he is afterwards. Boys always look so handsome after they get a cut. I love it.

On a totally different note...my kids are always doing random things that make me laugh. Before bed Sherri was giving Jackson rides on her leg. He started doing this funny thing where he would just jump up and latch onto her leg. We were laughing and laughing. Maybe this is one of those "you had to be there" things, but I thought I'd share anyway.

Lastly, here is Sydney singing a little song that Sherri taught her. We're working on getting her to sing in a more gangstaItalic like, and when she does I'll post it again.

Ok, that's all...hope you enjoyed my random post.

Just a little bit (of snow that is)

It's been raining here for DAYS. I mean, we haven't seen the sun since we got home on Sunday. The temperatures finally started to drop yesterday, and at about 5:00pm we started to see some snow. I expected to wake up to a foot of snow on the ground...but to my surprise, the sun came up this morning and we had a wimpy dusting on the lawn. Oh well, the kids still had fun playing in it.
